In a momentous weekend for the film, Minding the Gap won the Best Feature Award at the 2018 International Documentary Association Awards, in addition to the pre-announced Best Editing Award and Emerging Filmmaker Award (given to Minding the Gap director Bing Liu).

Barry Jenkins (If Beale Street Could Talk, Moonlight) and Kartemquin Artistic Director Gordon Quinn presented Liu with the award at the IDA Awards ceremony in Los Angeles this past Saturday.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association announced Minding the Gap had earned the LAFCA Award for Best Editing, as well as Runner-up in the Best Documentary category.

The Chicago Film Critics Association also awarded Minding the Gap their Best Documentary Award.

Minding the Gap also recently earned the Best Documentary of 2018 Award from the New York Film Critics Circle, was named one of 2018's Top Five Documentaries by the National Board of Review, and earned two Independent Spirit Award nominations.
